Description

Hektoen Enteric Agar is a selective medium based on fermentation of Sugar and production of H2S, for the isolation and cultivation of enteric gram-negative microorganisms and Salmonella and Shigella, from clinical and food samples. The medium is also suitable for water analysis, but with some variations in the formulation according to the requirements indicated by the reference method (APAT and ISTISAN), which, therefore, you should use the specific medium H.E.A. Cod. 14.0663V. The use of this medium allows a good inhibition of the common intestinal flora, facilitates the growth of shigella like other pathogenic and enables a primary differentiation in culture level between salmonella and shigella.
