Description

It is an Agar specifically made for the preparation of culture media for microorganisms cultivation. It is partially purified; when dissolved in distilled water, it produces a solution that does not form a precipitate after it has been sterilized in autoclave, if other components are present.

Its chemical and physical characteristics are kept within the limits estimated by USP. It presents a good jellying power, and this allows its use at concentration of 15 gr/l, and 5-7 gr/l for preparation, respectively, of solid and semi-solid media.

Because of its low jellying temperature it can be used for the preparation of media where the addition of organic material, such as blood or serum, is needed.
