Description
Salmonella Detection Agar is recommended for presumptive identification of all types of Salmonella that present yellow colonies with halo on this medium. The medium allows to distinguish other types of Enterobatteriaceae giving color contrasting colonies; they range from blue to green with or without yellow halo. The Proteus genus, that is hardly distinguishable from Salmonella in other media, appears in Salmonella Detection Agar with dark green colonies without halo.
This result is obtained by Microbiol (with a multi-decade experience matured in the field of culture media) by matching chromogenic elements to a fermentable substrate common to all types of Salmonella, including S. typhi.
