Description
Violet Red Lactose Bile Agar (VRBA) is a selective medium racommended by APHA and ISO 4832:2006 and for the isolation, cultivation and count of Coliforms, from dairy product, foods and milk.
Coliforms (Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Citrobacter e Escherichia) have the characteristic of fermenting lactose forming red-violet colonies, for the presence of neutral red and crystal violet, while precipitation of bile salts, determines the appearance of halo around the colonies.
