Description
Tryptose Broth is a highly nutritious medium, allowing abundant growth of difficult and fastidious bacteria, recommended for general use in laboratory. It is particularly suitable for the isolation and differentiation and isolation of Brucella, but also Listeria, Meningiococci and other pathogenic organisms.
Tryptose broth is also indicated by standard methods for food analysis. The medium can be used in the original formulation or supplemented with other growth factors. For example, McCullough et al. have shown that the addition of thiamine, dextrose and iron salts increases the growth of Brucella suis.
