Description

Tryptophan Broth is used in water analysis for the identification of Escherichia coli by indole production. It is recommended by UNI EN ISO 6579:2008 and ISTISAN 96/35 for salmonella detection in food specimens and by UNI EN ISO 9308-1:2002 e R.ISTISAN 07/5 (Method ISS A 006 C) for Choliforms isolation and enumeration in water.

The indolo production  test is important in Enterobacteriaceae differentiation and it allows the differentiation of Escherichia coli (indole +) to Klebsiella-Enterobacter-Hafnia-Serratia (indole -).
