Description
Schaedler Agar is a medium for the enumeration and isolation of the various aerobic and anaerobic bacterial species present in the gastrointestinal tract. Support the growth of a wide variety microorganisms particularly from anaerobic blood cultures.
SCHAEDLER AGAR + Vitamin K1 Supplement (Cod. 76.320) + 5% Defibrinated Ram Blood (Cod 17.0141)
The medium is formulated as the Schaedler agar base with the addition of growth factors. The addition of Vitamin K allows the development of anaerobic microorganisms, with colonies larger than those of other media. La Vitamin K allows the growth of Bacteroides, including Bacteroides melaninogenicus strains.

Selective medium particularly idicated for pus samples and/or exudates containing mixed bacterial flora. Medium formulated as the Schaedler Agar Base. Kanamicin inhibits facultative anerobic gram-negative (Enterobacteria) and several other bacteria, while vancomycin inhibits gram-positive bacteria.
