Description

M.S.R.V. (Modified Semisolid Rappaport Vassiliadis) Medium Base is a semi-solid and selective medium that allows to isolate and identify Salmonella from food products. The selectivity of M.S.R.V. Medium Base is due to the presence of malachite green and magnesium chloride. This low-agar medium detects the presence of motile Salmonella because of its ability to migrate more rapidly into semi-solid medium than other competitive microorganisms.

M.S.R.V. ISO 5 Amd.1 annex D is used for the isolation of Salmonella spp from animals faeces (Cattle, pigs and poultry) and/or environmental samples (dust) associated with the primary stage of animal production.

In addition, M.S.R.V. is used for the selective enrichment of Salmonella spp, from food (ISO 6579:2002 /Amd.1:2007 annex D), where it replaces Rappaport Vassiliadis broth.

If is suspected a high sample contamination must be added to the basic medium M.S.R.V. Selective Supplement (Cod 76.046)
