Description

G.C. Agar BASE is used in combination with supplements to create different colture media.

Tayer Martin: Sterilely add the Vitex (Microbiol cod. 76.011) to the mix of G.C. + blood and add the complex VCN (Microbiol cod. 76.095). 

Agar Chocolate with Vitex: Add the polyenriching supplement Vitex (Microbiol cod.76.011) to the G.C. + blood mix. This medium is used to isolate HAEMOPHILUS and N. GONORRHEAE. Instead, Agar Chocolate without Vitex allows a good growth of NEISSERIA, but is not good for Haemophili, because at 80 degrees Celsius the V factor (NAD) is denatured, since it is very sensitive to temperature.

Agar Chocolate with Bacitracin: It is a selective medium used for the isolation of Haemophili. Bactricin inhibits the growth of Gram positive and Gram negative and of some Neisseria. The dishes need to be incubated in CO2 enriched environment.
