Description

ESCULIN IRON AGAR (EIA) is a differential medium, formulated according with EPA 821-R-02-021 Method 1106-1, for the identification and confirmation tests of Enterococci isolated from sea water (DPR 470/82), river water and treated water. The medium shows the presence of fecal streptococci based on their capacity to hydrolyse esculin, which turns black due to the precipitation of iron.
