Description
EDWARD MEDIUM MOD. ( T. K. T. ) is used for the detection and isolation of Streptococcus agalactiae (or B streptococcus), this is recognized as one of the main infectious agents responsible for mastitis in cattle. For humans is essentialy a commensal of the female genital tract, which can also be found in the intestine, especially in the rectum. Colonization in adults is often asymptomatic, although Streptococcu agalactiae may be responsible for some forms of pneumonia, meningitis, arthritis, urinary infections and fasters deep.
The medium must be supplemented with 7% of defibrinated sheep blood.
