Description

Selective supplement for the determination of somatic anti-Escherichia coli bacteriophages in water analysis. The supplement must be added to the SEMI-SOLID MODIFIED SCHOLTENS' AGAR (ssMSA) COD 18.0398 tubes, for water samples to be analyzed with a high bacterial content (polluted natural waters, waste water).

NALIDIXIC ACID is an antibacterial agent of the quinolone class, which exerts a bactericidal activity thanks to the inhibition of bacterial DNA replication, secondary to the blocking of the bacterial gyrase enzyme. The antibacterial spectrum of the antibiotic includes in particular Gram negative germs. (Enterobacter – E.coli- Klebsiella spp- Morganella – Proteus vulgaris – Proteus mirabilis – Providencia rettgeri – Salmonella sp- Shigella)
