Description

MODIFIED SCHOLTENS' BROTH (MSB), formulated in accordance with ISO 10705-2:2000, is indicated for the preparation of the inoculum (working culture), for the culture of bacteriophage ΦX174 in the research of somatic anti-Escherichia coli bacteriophages in water analysis.

MODIFIED SCHOLTENS' BROTH (MSB) is also used for the preparation and conservation of the stock of strains necessary for carrying out the analysis. For samples with low bacterial content (drinking water, unpolluted natural waters), use Escherichia coli ATCC 13706. For samples with high bacterial content (polluted natural waters, wastewater) use the nalidixic acid-resistant mutant strain E. coli CN ATCC 700078. For preparation of reference material, use bacteriophage ΦX174 (ATCC 13706-B1)
