EXTENDED-SPECTRUM β-LACTAMASE AGAR (ESβL) is a selective medium particularly suitable for the detection of ESβL positive gram negative bacteria. The formulation of the medium added with a chromogenic mixture allows to identify, enumerate and differentiate ESβL bacteria resistant to antibiotics: aztreonam - cefotaxime - cefpodoxime - ceftazidime - ceftriaxone.
