Description
DECARBOXYLASE FALCOW BROTH is a medium used to differentiate bacteria on the basis of the ability of decarboxylate amino acids. The first studies, conducted by Gale and Gale and Epps, were extended and applied by Moeller, who took over the production of the decarboxylase from different species of the enterobacteriaceae, expanding biochemical tests to differentiate bacteria.
Then Falkow developed the medium for the decarboxylase of lysine for the specific differentiation between salmonella and shigella, obtaining results that are valid and reliable.
