Description
COOKED MEAT MEDIUM REINFORCED (CMF) is a medium indicated by FDA ( BAM CHAP.17) and CNRB30.001 Rev 01 2016 of the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Department for the research of Clostridia producing botulinum toxins type C and D in food samples, feed, biological samples (serum, stools, rectal swabs, intestinal washing, gastric contents, organic fabrics, internal organs) and environmental samples.
The C. botulinum type C and D strains responsible for animal botulism have more stringet anaerobiosis needs than the strains responsible for human botulism (type A, B, E, F, G and H), so, for their ideal cultivability is necessary to pre-reduce the culture media, leaving them in anaerobiosis conditions for at least 2 days before use.
