OXACILLIN RESISTANCE SCREENING AGAR BASE is a suitable medium for screening on routine swabs, for the early diagnosis of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Staphylococcus aureus can evolve by developing resistance to β–lactam antibiotics, which include cephalosporins and penicillins (dicloxaciline - methicillin - nafcillin - oxacillin ecc). Strains unable to resist these antibiotics are classified as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).
