THAYER MARTIN BROTH BASE MOD. (m-TM)

Description

Brucella genus includes three pathogenic species for human: Brucella melitensis, Brucella suis e Brucella abortus; so called in honor of Sir David Bruce, who first described the wound fever. The disease is transmitted to humans either by direct contact with infected animals or by ingestion of milk and its contaminating derivatives. Microbiological research, though difficult and long, must be taken to confirm the presence of the bacterium. The isolation and the cultivation of Brucella can be conducted by direct method on agarized media or indirect method on pre-enrichment media.
