Description

The IRON CHLORIDE SOLUTION 10% is used to differentiate Proteus, Morganella, Providencia from other gram negative bacteria on the basis of their ability to produce phenylpyruvant from phenylalanine. Among Enterobacteriaceae only Proteus, Morganella and Providencia members possess the enzyme deaminase which has the function of deaminating phenylalanine with the production of phenylpyruvic acid.
