Description
CLED Agar + MUG is a medium for isolation, enumeration and presumptive identification of bacteria in the urine, showing the presence of E.coli by reading fluorescence.
The presence of MUG (4-methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronidase), allows the identification of E.coli for the presence of fluorescence, because the MUG is hydrolyzed by the enzyme β-glucuronidase, present in the most of Escherichia coli, and then determines an intense blue fluorescence.
