Description
The broth for the conservation of bacterial strains, by freezing at -20°C or at lower temperatures, is a fluid of cryopreservation composed of nutrient medium and 15% glycerol, contained in sterile microtubes suitable for freezing.
The nutrient medium enables the maintenance of basal metabolism, while glycerol protects the cells from freezing damage. The low-temperature freezing exerts a bacteriostatic effect on the bacterial cell, while minimizing the metabolic functions but preserving cell viability; then allowing the conservation of the strains for long period.
