Description

Acetamide Broth is used in confirmation tests in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa colonies, due to the property to convert acetamid into ammonia, according to UNI EN 12780:2002 and UNI EN ISO 16266:2008 methods.

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, opportunistic pathogen for humans, has the ability to develop in substrates (ex. water) with a low concentration of nutrients. The acetamid present in the medium (only carbone source) is deaminated by Pseudomonas (gram negative non-fermenting) with release of ammonia which increases th pH of the medium.
