Description
DRBC is a selective medium, recommended by ISO 21527- 1, for the enumeration of yeasts and molds in products intended for human consumption or for animal feed, which have a water activity greater than 0.95 (eggs, meat, dairy products, fruit, vegetables, fresh pasta etc.), with the colony count technique at 25°C ± 1°C.
The method specified in ISO 21527 is not suitable for counting of heat-resistant fungi, such as byssochlamys tawny or byssochlamys nivea (canned or bottled fruit). The formulation of the medium, according to ISO 21527-1:2008, is a modification of Rose Bengal Agar.
