Description
Bordetella Selective agar is a media for the isolation of Bordetella pertussis and B. parapertussis.
Bordetella Selective Agar is prepared with a peptone base and with vegetable charcoal enriched with nicotinic acid, horse blood and selective yield of cephalexin, which according to Abott Sutcliffe studies, is superior to penicillin in the isolation of B.pertussis, in it allows the recovery of stressed cells and inhibits the development of flora saprophyte nose pharyngeal.
The medium must be supplemented with:
