Description
The Blood Agar Base is a general purpose medium used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious microorganisms. The addition of ram or horse blood enriches the medium and allows the determination of the haemolytic activity of various microorganisms such as Streptococci, Staphylococci, and others.
The medium might be supplemented with:
- Defibrinated sheep blood (cod. 17.0141)
- Defibrinated horse blood (cod. 17.0159)
